DOLL® achieves record order intake of over EUR 200 million
DOLL Fahrzeugbau GmbH was able to continue its growth strategy in 2022. For 2023, the company is aiming to double its sales volume.
Despite difficult general conditions, ranging from unstable supply chains to sharply increased energy and raw material costs, the company was able to achieve a record order intake of over EUR 200 million in the past financial year. The enormous growth extends to all four business units.
The realignment already initiated in 2018, with multi-million investments in the following years at the Oppenau, Mildenau and New Jersey (USA) sites and the founding of DOLL France SAS, is followed by further milestones such as investment in welding robots, further digitalisation, more stringent processes and a clear focus on the addressed markets.
The airfield business unit, DOLL Airport Equipment GmbH, was able to recover much faster than expected with the flattening of the Corona pandemic and the increasing normalisation of international air traffic and enters the new business year with a high order backlog. On the product side, a highlight: the first scissor lift truck with an emission-free superstructure with cooling for airfield use.
However, the company's innovative strength is not only demonstrated by this example. In the heavy transport division, which also exceeded expectations with 17 percent sales growth, the product offensive manifested itself at the trade fair appearance at bauma 2022. In Munich, DOLL® focused equally on innovation and digitalisation: including the intelligent trailer management and control systems DOLL connect® and DOLL control®, the unique panther® axle technology and the extremely robust DOLL tera® swing axle, which is equally suitable for military and civilian applications.
In the Defence business unit, it is not only pendular axles from DOLL® that have a long tradition, but also partnerships with armed forces worldwide. In 2022, several long-standing projects were brought to a conclusion, flanked by a framework agreement between the BAAINBw (German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support) and DOLL® for the delivery of 250 militarised 8-axle semi-trailers.
With growth of over 10 percent in the timber transport business segment, DOLL® is able to set a new sales record in this segment and at the same time further expand its market leadership. At the leading trade fair Interforst, also located at the Munich exhibition centre, DOLL® presented a cross-section of its current timber transport range in July 2022. The focus of interest: the new generation of short log trailers, DOLL®'s own highly successful ratioplus steering system and new semi-trailers from the LOGO series. In the course of the year, DOLL® will also supplement its range with new timber transport concepts for the French market.
The various series are manufactured at the Mildenau site, which has been under new management as DOLL TimTech GmbH since 2022. Located in the foothills of the Ore Mountains, the plant, a wholly owned subsidiary of DOLL Fahrzeugbau GmbH, has been increasingly developed into a centre of excellence for all types of timber transport vehicles for several years - most recently with the opening of a completely new delivery hall. A further expansion of the plant capacity is planned for 2023.
The development and career opportunities at DOLL® are just as diverse as the product portfolio - for trainees, students and experienced professionals. A cooperative management style in the family environment of a modern medium-sized company opens up individual career opportunities in vehicle development, design, production, administrative professions as well as in leading positions in various departments.
