Reinforcement in north-eastern Germany: Mielke/Sternberg based in Waren (Müritz) becomes new DOLL Fahrzeugbau trade and service partner

From September 2021, Sternberg Baumaschinen GmbH & Co. KG will be strengthening the DOLL Fahrzeugbau GmbH partner network. The company based in Jördenstorf, in the heart of the north-German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is therefore continuing the history of Mielke, which is based in nearby Waren (Müritz). As part of a succession plan, Mielke’s owners decided to transfer the long-established superstructure and service company to Sternberg as of 1 September.

“The site and the workforce will be retained in the process,” emphasises Rita Mielke. What’s more, long-timber and short-timber superstructures will continue to be made in Waren, now based on DOLL® assemblies. The complete range of trailers and semi-trailers for transporting timber will also be available. “We’ve already worked with DOLL® previously and are sure that we have found a really good solution for our loyal customer base with this step.”

Managing director Torsten Sternberg is also convinced of this. “For customers, the only thing that will actually change is the name. We want to continue the vehicle construction range together with DOLL® and believe that this will supplement our previous activities nicely.”
For around 30 years, Sternberg’s core business has revolved around trade with JCB construction machines. Their transport services with their own tippers and low-bed trailers are another significant area of activity. On top of all this, Sternberg has also been a Palfinger service partner for about a year. “With a view to timber transport, that also fits well into the concept,” underlines Torsten Sternberg. “Especially as Mielke has already worked together with Palfinger or Epsilon cranes.”

Sternberg will provide support services relating to timber transporters from nearby Jördenstorf (around 45 km from Waren on the B108), while vehicle construction alone will remain at Lake Müritz. Torsten Sternberg sums it up as follows: “Mielke’s longstanding expertise in the superstructure sector, DOLL® as a renowned manufacturer and market leader – not to mention with its own factory in Saxony, and on top of that, the business areas that we have developed ourselves – it all fits.”

As a key account manager responsible for trade partners at DOLL®, Alexander Siepe is also excited about the new collaboration. ׅ“We want to accelerate the growth trajectory in timber transport, strengthening the existing dealer and service network and gaining new partners in the process. With the expertise in vehicle construction and extensive customer base in the timber sector, the site in Waren is an ideal addition.”
Cooperation with partners is not generally limited to just sales and service. In addition to trading activities with complete vehicles from the DOLL rapid®+ range, bespoke solutions are becoming increasingly popular. Pre-manufactured kits from DOLL® form the basis for this, which can then be customised in line with the customer’s requirements in the dealer’s vehicle construction departments.
