Versatile 3-axle trailer combination for Senn AG in Switzerland

With the 3-axle trailer combination, Swiss company Senn AG is expanding its fleet with another special vehicle. The trailer, which is equipped with three 12-ton axles, has a dead weight of just approx. 7 tons. The front axle boasts a steering angle of up to 55° and the turning angle of the bolsters is up to 80°, lending the trailer a great degree of manoeuvrability. This is particularly important for use in Switzerland, where long loads such as prefabricated concrete parts, steel constructions and laminated beams often have to be transported along narrow, steep and winding roads.

Crab steering in an emergency

The precise steering system can be adapted to different bolster positions, plus the additional steering and track adjustment can be operated conveniently using a radio remote control. As there is no limit when it comes to turning under load, the trailer can be steered to the left or right at almost a right angle and if necessary, it can also be driven in “crab steering” mode, making it ideally equipped for tricky applications on tight terrain.

Senn also ordered a DOLL® special bolster for mounting on the fifth-wheel coupling, which is designed for loads up to 48 tons. The plug-in, length-adjustable cross braces provide additional flexibility. In short, with this combination, Senn has put itself in the best possible position and has put its trust in DOLL®’s decades of experience with trailers.
